Emotional Support Animal Housing Letter
An ESA housing letter is a letter that allows a person to live in a “no pets” apartment, condo, or home. The letter gives rights to a person with a mental illness to live with their animal, regardless of the breed, age, or weight of the animal.
The ESA housing letter must be written by a licensed healthcare professional. It must be signed and dated on the licensed healthcare professional’s official letterhead and must include their licensing information.
According to the new HUD guidelines, your landlord cannot require additional documentation nor ask about your private health records. The ESA letter for housing is the only thing that you need in order to prove your need for an emotional support animal.
